Opportunity to Pay Property Tax Arrears; Penalty Interest Waived
Valanchery: A notification has been issued stating that penalty interest on outstanding property tax dues payable to local self-government institutions has been waived until September 30, 2026.
The K-SMART system now facilitates the payment of outstanding property tax without penalty interest for those who clear their dues during this period.
Authorities have urged those with property tax arrears to take advantage of this opportunity by making the payment today.

ഈ കാലയളവിൽ കുടിശ്ശികയായ വസ്തുനികുതി അടച്ചുതീർക്കുന്നവർക്ക് പിഴപ്പലിശ കൂടാതെ നികുതി അടയ്ക്കാനുള്ള സൗകര്യം K-SMART സംവിധാനത്തിൽ ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
അതിനാൽ വസ്തുനികുതി കുടിശ്ശികയുള്ളവർ ഇന്ന് തന്നെ തുക അടച്ച് അവസരം പ്രയോജനപ്പെടുത്തണമെന്ന് അധികൃതർ അറിയിച്ചു.

Valanchery: Municipal Chairperson Haseena Vattoli inaugurated the municipal-level launch of ‘Operation Toofan 2.0 – The Narco Hunt,’ an initiative organized jointly by the Kerala Government's Home Department and the Local Self-Government Department as part of anti-drug efforts. Deputy Chairperson K.V. Unnikrishnan presided over the function. This project is being implemented through a collaboration between the police and local bodies as the second phase of the Kerala Government's ‘Toofan’ campaign against drug abuse. Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala had inaugurated the project at the state level during a ceremony held at Malabar College, Vengara. Special arrangements were made at the VSC Bank auditorium to view the state-level inauguration ceremony online. Following the state-level launch, the Chairperson hoisted the flag and pinned ‘Toofan Warriors’ badges on the ward councilors. Municipal Secretary H. Seena administered the anti-drug pledge, and Valanchery ASI Ajay conducted an awareness session. Councilor Mujeeb Valasi delivered the welcome address at the event, which was attended by Cheriyil Ramakrishnan (Chairman, Welfare Standing Committee) and Shaji (Chairperson, Development Standing Committee). Speakers included Councilors T.P. Abdul Gafoor, Jalal Manu, K.T. Abdul Razak, Naufal Palara, Jaya Sadanandan, Ajitha Krishnan, Adv. Harsha Santhosh, U. Mujeeb Rahman, Rahmabi, P.P. Yahya, Rashid Machincheri, Shafi (Muthu), Siddique Haji, Sakeena, Sulaikha Karakadan, K.P. Naseera, Mehroofath Nelloli, and Hajara Veeran Kutty; Municipality Clean City Manager T.P. As part of this year-long campaign, meetings of vigilance committees will be held at the ward level in the coming days, marking the launch of ward-level campaigns. Valanchery: A mass cleaning drive was conducted in public places as part of the 'Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) - 2026' mega cleanliness campaign being implemented in the Valanchery Municipality until October 2. The cleaning drive covered the Valanchery market, bus stand, municipal stadium, and the Kottaram bus waiting shelter. Municipal Chairperson Haseena Vattoli inaugurated the event. Cleaning drives were conducted in the vicinity of the bus stand and market by NSS students from Safa Arts and Science College, and at the municipal stadium and Kottaram bus shelter by NSS students from MES KVM College. The Kavumpuram bus shelter and its surroundings had also been cleaned the previous day. K. Shareefa Teacher (Chairperson, Health Standing Committee), Najia Jamshad (Chairperson, Education, Arts, and Sports Standing Committee), Shaji Mol (Chairperson, Development Standing Committee), and Councilors Sajitha Teacher, Rahmabi, P.P. Shafi, and Jaya Sadanandan addressed the gathering. T.P. Ashraf (Clean City Manager, Municipal Health Department), Vinod Balakrishnan (Health Inspector), JHI Anu, and sanitation workers also led the cleaning activities. Further programs as part of this campaign will be organized in the coming days.

Urgent resolution for the issues regarding the service road, drainage, and foot-over-bridge, as well as the travel woes at Vattappara! 🛣️

An urgent joint inspection was conducted alongside a team of senior officials to address the severe travel difficulties and drainage defects in the Valanchery-Vattappara area, which arose in connection with the National Highway 66 development project. 🤝
The official team visited the site following the persistent interventions of Hon. MP Abdussamad Samadani, Hon. Kottakkal MLA Prof. Abid Hussain Thangal, and Valanchery Municipal Chairperson Haseena Vattoli.
Previously, Mujeeb Valasi (former Chairman of the Municipal Education Standing Committee and current Councilor), Ashraf Ambalathingal (former Chairman and current Chairman of the Public Works Standing Committee), and former Councilor Abida Mansoor had submitted complaints regarding these issues to the Hon. MP, the MLA, and the NHAI. A team comprising NHAI Project Director Praveen Kumar and Special Deputy Collector Shaji K. visited the area and took the following key decisions:
1️⃣ Drainage Construction: Orders were issued to prepare an estimate for the urgent construction of a drainage system to prevent rainwater from the National Highway—flowing beneath the viaduct—from rushing into nearby homes and water sources. 🌧️
2️⃣ Foot Overbridge (FOB): The Project Director assured that an estimate for a foot overbridge between Vattappara and Kanjippura is being prepared to ensure pedestrian safety and that construction will commence soon. 🌉
3️⃣ Valanchery Service Road: Construction of the service road from Vattappara to Valanchery will be expedited, following Cabinet approval to acquire the necessary surplus land. 🚗
4️⃣ Connection Road: Measures will be taken to restore the road connection from the Vattappara Vadakke Kulambu–Athanikkal bypass to the National Highway. 🛣️
Valanchery Municipal Chairperson Haseena Vattoli, Deputy Chairman K.V. Unnikrishnan, Councilors Mujeeb Valasi, Siddique Haji Kalodi, and Sulaikha Karakadan, along with UDF leaders Salam Valanchery and Rajan Master, were also present. He was with the MLA.

NHAI പ്രൊജക്ട് ഡയറക്ടർ പ്രവീൺ കുമാർ, സ്പെഷ്യൽ ഡെപ്യൂട്ടി കളക്ടർ ഷാജി കെ എന്നിവരടങ്ങിയ സംഘം പ്രദേശം സന്ദർശിക്കുകയും താഴെ പറയുന്ന പ്രധാന തീരുമാനങ്ങൾ എടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു:
1️⃣ ഡ്രൈനേജ് നിർമ്മാണം: വയഡക്ട് പാലത്തിന് താഴെ ദേശീയപാതയിലെ വെള്ളം കുത്തിയൊലിച്ച് വീടുകളിലേക്കും ജലസ്രോതസ്സുകളിലേക്കും എത്തുന്നത് തടയാൻ അടിയന്തരമായി ഡ്രൈനേജ് നിർമ്മിക്കാൻ എസ്റ്റിമേറ്റ് തയ്യാറാക്കാൻ ഉത്തരവിട്ടു. 🌧️
2️⃣ ഫൂട്ട് ഓവർ ബ്രിഡ്ജ്: വട്ടപ്പാറക്കും കഞ്ഞിപ്പുരക്കും ഇടയിൽ കാൽനടയാത്രക്കാരുടെ സുരക്ഷ ഉറപ്പാക്കാൻ FOB-ന്റെ എസ്റ്റിമേറ്റ് തയ്യാറായി വരുന്നതായും നിർമ്മാണം ഉടൻ ആരംഭിക്കുമെന്നും പ്രൊജക്ട് ഡയറക്ടർ ഉറപ്പുനൽകി. 🌉
3️⃣ വളാഞ്ചേരി സർവീസ് റോഡ്: വട്ടപ്പാറയിൽ നിന്നും വളാഞ്ചേരിയിലേക്കുള്ള സർവീസ് റോഡിന് മിച്ചഭൂമി ലഭിക്കാൻ മന്ത്രിസഭാ അംഗീകാരം ലഭിച്ച പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ നിർമ്മാണം വേഗത്തിലാക്കും. 🚗
4️⃣ കണക്ഷൻ റോഡ്: വട്ടപ്പാറ വടക്കേ കുളമ്പ് - അത്താണിക്കൽ ബൈപ്പാസ് റോഡിൽ നിന്ന് നാഷണൽ ഹൈവേയിലേക്കുള്ള കണക്ഷൻ പുനഃസ്ഥാപിക്കാൻ നടപടി സ്വീകരിക്കും. 🛣️
